So tonight as I was watching my favorite reality show “Survivor” I noticed one of the luxury items a contestant had brought was a crochet blanket. This week’s challenge was for immunity and their one luxury item they had brought from home. The Heroes won but I’m not sure who brought the pink and white crochet blanket. I’m betting it’s a baby blanket either a contestants or maybe one of their children. Who knows.

Either way bringing a blanket is a good idea since blankets always seem to be a coveted luxury. Maybe in future episodes we’ll see the blanket again and get more of the story behind it. It’s always fun to spot crochet on TV shows. I just wish it was on the DVR so I could get a screen cap.

Will you be my Valentine, Cthulhu? Although he looks more Japanese than like a Valentine, he turned out what I had pictured in my mind.

I did make his wings out of a heart to add some Valentine to his look.

Next up is St. Paddy’s Cthuhulu which should be challenging since he is naturally green.

I tried making him more folk art-doll type than amigurumi. I might do another one as I work my way through all the characters since Spongebob was pretty easy. That is, if I can remember how I made him. This is why it’s so important to write down instructions.

For Christmas I made my niece a little acorn purse from the pattern at <a href=""http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/little-acorn.html">Roman Sock. I did the closing a little different since my top didn’t want to fit that well on it. I sewed it on about three-fourths of the way and then added one wooden bead to keep it closed. I love purses and can’t wait to try this one again for my daughter who loves to collect acorns.

I did a body even though I could have just attached the felt to the head since Zero really doesn’t have a body. I did a crochet body since I wanted to stitch the felt to something. This would also make it easier to display it. I made this one as a Christmas present but plan to do my own Zero real soon.

Merry Christmas! Here is a little reindeer(pattern free from Lion Brand) that I made for decoration. Surprisingly the little girl hasn’t claimed him as hers so for right now he gets to sit around. I may have to leave him out all year round because I think he is just adorable.

Gift cards to craft or yarn stores – There’s no better way to pass some time than in a craft/yarn store, especially when you have funds set aside just for that purpose.

Oversize handbags/totes – They make great places to stash yarn or crochet projects. Bags also make it super easy to carry your crochet on a trip.
