Not to critique but I’ve never crocheted with knitting needles before. Still it was kind of nice to see crochet ‘featured’ on Spongebob. There are so many Spongebob crochet projects. While Squidward as looking at the magazine, he said something like, “oh I’ve never seen that before.”

Kirby is a pretty well-know video game character. Now he has been transformed into a yarn figure in this side-scrolling platform game. I wonder if the success of Little Big Planet had anything to do with Kirby’s yarn makeover? It is so good to see yarn – which I love – married with my other love – video games.

Just look at these screenshots. I’m sure some crafty folks have already started blankets, amigurumi, and more in homage to this game – which reminds me I do have pink yarn that is just lying around..

It’s a also National Craft Month. The two really go hand in hand especially for me as most of my crochet is crafty items.

To celebrate, I plan on crocheting as I’m sure many crocheters will be doing. I also plan to continue teaching my husband how to crochet. I’ve given him one ‘lesson’ and it’s time for another one.

I also want to write a few crochet patterns especially for some of my crochet items I have on my blog. Hopefully I can get them done this month. I’ve started on Snellie the Snail and will probably get Yoshi done since I want to do a pink Yoshi since he is my daughter’s favorite in Super Mario Brothers Wii.

Crochet hooks – a nice hand-carved hook makes a lovely gift that will be treasured.

Crochet hook holder – Great for travel and to keep those hooks organized at home

Gift cards to craft or yarn stores – There’s no better way to pass some time than in a craft/yarn store, especially when you have funds set aside just for that purpose.

Oversize handbags/totes – They make great places to stash yarn or crochet projects. Bags also make it super easy to carry your crochet on a trip.

since I posted anything here? Sorry for that. A lot of projects I’ve been working on I need to wait until after Christmas.

Last year I had wanted to crochet some Christmas gifts and got about half done of what I had planned. This year I hope my percentage is higher. This weekend I need to finish up those items for my family’s Christmas since it will be the next weekend. My goal this year is to be done before the actual day of the party. Last year I was finishing up before we headed out. Whew. Talk about pressure.

It is hard to start crocheting too early for Christmas since I tend to change my mind or second guess myself about projects. I’m trying to thin down my stash so I try to pick patterns that I can use what I have. Also when it starts getting cooler and feeling like Christmas just puts me in the holiday mood.

I feel like I’m just rambling so let me end with saying that I haven’t given up on this blog and will be posting more projects and patterns after Christmas.

Welcome to CrochetMae! I’ve been crocheting for a little over a year but learned over 20 years ago from my grandmother Palmae. Oh how I wish I had been more interested and not so discouraged when my granny square was more of granny circle. I would totally rock by now with mad crochet skills.

Here is where I will share my creations from both my own and other’s patterns. My goal is to one day create something worthy to put on Etsy. A blog helps me organize my thoughts and ideas better than any software or even plain pen and paper. I’m always more inspired when writing.

I did have a blog at Today.com but my account was closed due to inactivity(not from my crochet blog but from another blog I had). Instead of starting another free blog, I decided to register a domain since I love the freedom that comes with hosting your own blog.

Thanks for reading this far and hope you find some inspiration here.
